The philosophy in teaching authentic Thai Boxing to Kids



North Jersey Muay Thai Gym’s philosophy in teaching authentic Thai Boxing to Kids is a two-prong approach. While your child is learning the principles of authentic Muay Thai, we believe that developing a healthy child takes proper instruction that emphasizes not only their physical health and development but also their mental well-being.

Physical Health

1. General Fitness

Weight management for children has been a growing concern due to a culture that is increasingly sedentary. According to research studies, exercise helps with weight management, improves mood, relieves stress, and decreases symptoms of depression. Our kid’s Muay Thai Boxing program is a great way to ensure your child is staying active to improve their overall physical and mental well-being. Each student will benefit from individualized and age-appropriate instruction. We believe that a strong foundation and early exposure to healthy habits will produce lifelong benefits.

2. Sports Performance

Our kid’s Muay Thai skill building program is comprehensive. Our curriculum includes flexibility, strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance and power training. The skill sets developed here are essential to excel in authentic Muay Thai Boxing and all other types of sports. Due to our training methodology, Muay Thai Boxing skills become an excellent cross-training complement to basketball, soccer, baseball, and other sports where over-training injuries are common.

3. Self-Protection (Self-Defense/Bully Prevention

Muay Thai provides a sense of empowerment and self confidence that is truly the biggest deterrent to children being bullied or to feeling like they must bully others.

The North Jersey Muay Thai Kid’s program empowers young people through teaching them self-respect and self-reliance. Learning to be resilient in the face of adversity is one of the central tenets of martial arts self-defense. We believe this knowledge is the key to becoming a confident individual who can defend himself or herself and stand up for others in any bullying situation.

Mental Health of the SELF

1. Self-Esteem & Self-Confidence

Training in Muay Thai helps to improve self-esteem at a young age and instills a sense of self-confidence as part of a strong foundation. Today’s children face many challenges as they grow. This includes new classes at school, meeting new friends, communicating with adults, and more. Training children in martial arts and Muay Thai at a young age helps to build a strong self-esteem and provides confidence.

2. Self-Discipline & Self-Control

In today’s world it can be difficult to instill a sense of self discipline in our young people. As instant gratification becomes a cultural norm, self-control is an attribute that is not cultivated daily. At North Jersey Muay Thai, our kids’ program will foster self-discipline and a greater sense of self-control organically as part of the tools needed to become a competent martial artist.
